About Sound Therapy
Sound has been used throughout the ages as a form of therapy to bring mankind together through ritual, ceremony and to transform consciousness.
Sound is vibration and we are vibrational beings by nature. Every cell, organ and bone in our body has a resonant frequency and when we feel lethargic, demotivated, unhealthy and out of sorts, the sound of the alchemy crystal singing bowls can help our body realign and reset. We know that sound is a form of energy and there are entire schools of thought who now believe that biological energies can influence our biochemistry and our cells at a molecular level.
Sound travels 4 times more efficiently through water than through air and our bodies are made up of 70-80% water, making the therapeutic effects of sound incredibly powerful. Just like plants, when we are healthy there is symmetry and balance seen in the crystallised water cells that make up the tissues and organs in our bodies. You can see this perfect symmetry through the study of cymatics which shows us how sound impacts the physical world.
As quoted by Dr Mitchell Gaynor, a renowned medical oncologist who pioneers the way for sound therapy being included in the medical profession, ‘If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our body’.
Dr Mitchell Gaynor looks at the whole patient, meaning mind, body and spirit when treating disease.
He also acknowledges the power of ‘entrainment’. It is the process by which the powerful rhythmic vibrations of one object are projected upon a second object with similar frequency. This causes the first object to vibrate in resonance with the second object.
Research has shown that sound waves may entrain the human organism causing us to vibrate in resonance with those waves in a variety of interconnected ways. This is truly fascinating and when thought about simply, means that sound therapy may alter our energetic states leading to physiological and emotional transformation.
She has a keen interest in fertility; helping women through the process of childbirth, adoption and IVF.
‘Through the process of entrainment, sound can transform negative, repressed emotions into a state of psychological equanimity that has direct and immediate effects on our physiology’
